Pennsylvania Concealed Carry Requirements

Introduction

Pennsylvania issues a License to Carry Firearms (LTCF) through county sheriffs (or Philadelphia Police).  The process is relatively simple compared to many states.

Eligibility

  • ✅ Age 21+

  • ✅ Pennsylvania resident (non-resident permits available)

  • ✅ No felony convictions

  • ✅ No drug/alcohol abuse history

  • ✅ No dishonorable military discharge

Required Training

Pennsylvania does not require training for an LTCF — but it is recommended for safety and legal protection.

Application Process

  1. Apply at County Sheriff’s Office – Or Philadelphia PD

  2. Provide ID, Application, Fee

  3. Background Check – Often same-day approval

  4. Receive Permit – Typically within 45 days

  • $20–$30

Reciprocity

Pennsylvania LTCF is valid in 29+ states, but reciprocity rules vary.
